Exercising has become a vital part of some people’s lives. Now with summer here it has become very hot and maybe exercising will be the last thing on your mind as you have to deal with the heat. Here are some ways to stay cool as you get your exercise in.

Adjust Your Schedule

It will be the hottest in the afternoon, and if you will still have to commute to your gym, then you will probably be sweaty and tired on the way. So if you have been working out in the peak of the day, you may want to move that schedule to early morning or evening.

Take It Indoors

One of the best ways to exercise during Summer is to stay indoors. You can do your exercises at home or in your Thomson Reserve condo, where you can set up your workout area as you require, with everything you need within reach.

Stay Hydrated

Water is important during exercise. It helps with muscle recovery, reducing cramps and more. It can also protect you from potential dehydration. Bring a large water bottle with you for your exercise sessions so you can have sips of water in-between sets. You can also bring cool food with you like fruits such as watermelons as a pre-workout meal.

Bring Towels or An Extra Set of Clothes

In the gym you will be sweating more than usual due to the heat, bring a towel with you so you can wipe yourself off during breaks from your workouts and an extra set of clothes so that you can get out of your soaked clothes and feel fresh and clean afterwards.

Try Shower/Cooling Methods

Take a cold shower a few minutes after your workout so you can clean and cool yourself after exercising. There are other methods to cool off like using an ice pack, an ice bath or simply place a cold and damp towel on your body to prevent overheating.
