Election Commission of Pakistan Official Website Subdomain Hacked By Indian Hackers

The Indian hacker Manish has once again brought down an important Pakistan website, and like before, they haven’t fixed the problem yet. We’re unsure how long the Pakistan Election Commission’s subdomain has been down (http://punjab.ecp.gov.pk/index.html), but it seems clear that they can’t control the security of their server from hackers. Interestingly enough, while the subdomain had been hacked, the root domain of the site (http://ecp.gov.pk/) wasn’t hacked at all— drawing the light the possibility of root domain server being more secure than subdomain server.

Manish changed the message that had been left on the server with a newer one:

server pwned??? hell yesh …

well, you have been hacked …… Manish, zero cool, Code breaker ICA, suriya cyber tyson and incredible were in your box

Does Pakistan Have a Serious Server Security Issue?

It would seem that Pakistan server security is as easy to breach as a hot knife slices through butter. This same hacker put the entire Pakistan Post Office Department, Pakistan People’s Party Official Website, and the IPDF (Infrastructure Project Development Facility) under the same hack on the 17th of this month (exactly a week from our last publication about this hacker). While these sites have been repaired, the hole in the server obviously hasn’t, and it will be interesting to see how this story progresses. We still aren’t sure if these hacks are politically motivated or just because Manish is bored— but we’ll keep you updated as the story unfolds.
