The cannabidiol industry has been booming due to its various health benefits, which the consumer can enjoy in a regularised dosage. This dosage depends on many factors, including the concentration of THC, a psychotropic cousin of CBD in the extracts. However, due to legal restrictions, the concentration is controlled within the range of 0.3% of the concentration of THC or traces of THC. However, concentrated oil forms of cannabidiols have been reported to treat consumers with health benefits with fewer risks for medical conditions.
CBD effects and workings for Fibromyalgia
Due to the legal status of the substance and certain other factors, there is a lack of proper studies regarding the reaction of the substance to the consumer’s body. This has been the main reason for researchers’ inability to solidify the substance’s exact reason and reaction regarding treating pain disorders. There have been reviews during 2020 that the studies are limited yet cannabis can provide benefitting the consumers. Reports suggest that lack of endocannabinoids is the root cause for any pain syndrome, including migraine and Fibromyalgia. However, the analgesic properties in the essential oils of NuLeaf Naturals CBD extracts have resulted in treating various pain-related problems, including the effects of Fibromyalgia.
The Dutch study of 2019
In 2019, Dutch research was conducted to determine the effects of Fibromyalgia with the administration of CBD. The research included the involvement of 20 women who were suffering from Fibromyalgia. The research was done by administering four types of cannabis which were:
- 200 mg of a cannabis variant with high amounts of both Cannabidiol and THC. The product that was used is known as Biol.
- 100 mg of a variety of cannabis that has low amounts of Cannabidiol and high amounts of THC, known as Bedrocan.
- 200 mg of a cannabis variant that has low amounts of THC and high amounts of Cannabidiol, known as Bedrolite.
- A variety of placebo does not contain either THC or CBD. However, the dosage of this is unspecified.
This research clearly showed that women who consumed the placebo variety rendered similar spontaneous pain scores with the non-placebo varieties. However, Bedrocan or Bediol has an improved pressure pain threshold if compared with the placebo variants. One of the main reasons behind this is a high concentration of THC in the products. On the other hand, Biol, which is high in both THC and Cannabidiol, brought a sense of relief to a greater number than the placebo. There was a 30% reduction in spontaneous pain in 18 of the 20 participants, while the placebo relieved about 11 out of the 20 participants.
The Israeli Study of 2019
There was an Israeli study conducted in 2019 that included a hundred people, 82% of them being women. This study was conducted for six months. However, before starting the experiments, the administering supervisors were provided instructions regarding the 14 types of cannabis variants included in the study, their dosage mechanism and delivery methods. The dosage was increased with time which showed positive effects on the consumers. However, the percentage of the participants experiencing pain was reduced from 52.5% to a mere 7.9% after completing the study.
The abovementioned studies have been pioneering in deeming cannabis or CBD as a trusted source in treating Fibromyalgia. Both studies showed significant improvement in the pain management of the people suffering from this disorder. With the legal situation improving, newer and frequent studies have been introduced to determine the effects. With more and more studies, the substance has the full potential to be the most popular element in the alternate medicine fraternity.
