The Great Firewall is one of the most strict programs for censoring the internet in the world. The Great Firewall is a very sophisticated way to block access to information and keep track of what people do online. Any platform, website, or app that the government thinks could be dangerous is blocked. People who say bad things about the government or spread information that the government thinks is bad risk getting in trouble with the law.

Internet Blocking in China

If you live in China or plan to visit, you may want to be able to use all the internet’s resources, like Facebook, YouTube, Google, The New York Times, and so on. But the Great Firewall blocks direct access to these web services, so you can’t use them. So how do you get around China’s firewall and use the internet freely and openly?

Use of a VPN is the easiest and most common way to get around China’s firewall (Virtual Private Network). A VPN is a service that sends all of your internet traffic through a server in another country and encrypts it. So, you can hide your real IP address and location from the Chinese government and use any blocked website there.

Not All VPNs Work in China

But not every VPN works in China. Using advanced tools like Deep Packet Inspection, the Great Firewall can find and block most VPNs (DPI). Before you go to China, you need a good VPN for China that can get around China’s firewall restrictions.

To find reliable VPNs for China, you can visit China VPN review sites or search Google with keywords such as “VPN for China” or Chinese keywords such as “VPN排行”.

ExpressVPN is a good VPN for China because it has strong security features, the fastest speeds on the market, and apps that are easy to use. ExpressVPN also has technologies called “obfuscation” that can make your VPN traffic look like normal traffic so that DPI can’t find it. Also, ExpressVPN has servers in many places around the world, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore, which are all nearby.

To use ExpressVPN or any other VPN to get around China’s firewall, you only need to do three things:

1. Make sure you have ExpressVPN before you go to China. If you sign up for 12 months through this link, you’ll get 3 months free.

2. Get ExpressVPN and install it on your device. This process shouldn’t take more than a few minutes if you follow the steps given by the installation wizard.

3. Use a server outside of China (preferably one close by for better speeds). Now, you can use any website that was once blocked in China.

Conclusion:

If you live in China or are going to visit, you might want to be able to access all internet resources, even those that are blocked by the Great Firewall. Use of a VPN is one of the most common ways to get around China’s firewall (Virtual Private Network). With a good VPN for China, you can get around the blocks and browse the internet as you please.
