What Are Your FAQs To Lithium-Ion Battery?

The technology that we use today runs on electricity and batteries are the source of electricity. People often wonder about the implications of batteries and their usage on the environment, but what most people don’t consider is that the batteries that are used in technology have gone through some drastic changes in the past, and what we see and use today is the result of those changes.

Today we are going to be talking about lithium-ion batteries and covering all the frequently asked questions that most people want to know, so without further ado let’s get started.

What Are The Lithium-Ion Batteries?

Lithium-ion batteries are a type of batteries that can be recharged multiple times over their life span and are very popular amongst manufactures that need the batteries to run their electronics items.

Lithium-ion batteries are some of the most diverse batteries that are present in the market today, they come in a variety of voltages and sizes and are compatible with almost every type of technological item. If you look at a lithium ion battery guide, you will find the list of items that run off lithium-ion batteries. As of today, almost 75% percent of devices are on lithium-ion batteries.

How Long Does A Lithium-Ion Battery Last?

The standard life of a lithium battery lasts about 600 to 800 charge cycles. This means that your battery will charge and discharge about 800 times before it starts to degrade and die. 800 charge cycles usually count around 1.5 to 2 years depending on average users, and after that, you will notice that your battery does not last as long as before or takes a long time to charge. Once you notice that your battery is degrading than it is probably time to get it changed.

Can You Store Lithium Batteries for A Long Time?

Yes, you can store batteries for a long time but certain conditions have to be met before you can store the batteries. You should know that lithium-ion batteries are prone to self-discharge if left for a long time so it is perfectly normal to find a battery drained after you have left it for a long time.

How to Store Batteries?

There are three steps that you have to take care of when storing your batteries. Step 1 is that you have to first charge the batteries to its full potential, this will help the batteries to be stored for a long time.

Step 2 is to store the batteries in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. The colder the place the better it is going to be because lithium-ion batteries self-discharge less when they are left in cold temperatures.

The third step is to check up on the batteries every couple of months and charge them if necessary, this is going to ensure that your batteries stay in perfect running condition.

Is It Safe To Take On A Plane?

There are common misconceptions that people believe that lithium-ion batteries cannot be taken on a plane for safety concerns. But the fact is that these lithium-ion batteries are perfectly safe to take aboard a plane, even if you think about it, many of the backup systems on a plane uses lithium-ion batteries to keep things running even after the main power somehow gets cut off.

Do Lithium-Ion Batteries Have Charge Memories?

No, lithium-ion batteries do not have charge memories which means that you don’t have to perform a deep discharge on the battery, this also means that you can charge batteries multiple times a day to keep your devices charged up.
