I’m not gonna lie, I like online dating platforms. They are great when it comes to wasting time in the line, as well as they are great at getting people together. Over the years, online dating experience has changed quite a bit and many vendors came and left but there’s this one little app that we keep coming back on. It’s called the DoULike app and let me tell you, it’s one dating platform you don’t want to miss. I tried it and I’m ready to share my thoughts with you in my personal DoULike review.
Is DoULike Worth It for Dating or just Hooking up?
Available for both, iOS and Android, the DoULike app is a great place for meeting new people, albeit with a few minor drawbacks (more on that in a bit). It is packed with users and the quality of dating profiles is quite high but your mileage will vary as everything is based on personal preferences. Now is it more of a dating app or a hooking app? Depends. You can use it for both purposes and you won’t miss out on anything the app has to offer but for my money, I would use it as a dating app because the online dating community alone makes it worth a try.
Pros and Cons of Getting on DoULike
I won’t be covering all the pros and cons of DoULike but will focus on the most prominent ones. So, first things first, let’s take a look at the pros. Does DoULike work as an app? Absolutely! In fact, it is very responsive and does not eat up all of your memory or mobile data. The general design of the app is based on its user-friendly dating site counterpart and I couldn’t be more happy about it. The photos load fast too, and I rarely had a bad time scrolling people on the bus or subway.
Now that we covered the pros, let’s take a look at the cons. The first one that comes to mind is that the filter feature set isn’t as complete as it might look. You won’t be able to filter out all of the parameters but thankfully, you do have gender, age, and location options. The second gripe that I’ve noticed during my time with the DoULike app is that it does not support the new U-shaped screens. Not a deal-breaker or anything but hopefully it gets solved in an update. Generally, is DoULike worth it? Yes, I say you give it a try, in fact, here are some tips to get you started.
Advice for getting a perfect match
To get most of the DoULike dating service I’ve decided to write down a few tips for you to land in a perfect match. Keep in mind, these aren’t sure-shot methods and sometimes tweaking is necessary. This of it as a guideline rather than an instruction.
- Do not like everyone
The number one mistake most dating site newbies make is that they like everyone. Don’t do that cause you’re making things worse. Why? The algorithm gets confused as to what you like and will start recommending you people with whom you have nothing in common. Instead, like people consciously and carefully, as if you are about to buy a lipstick that you’ll use for the rest of your life.
- Read people’s profile descriptions
By default, the app will offer you people from your neighborhood, or in other words, local dating. Yet it doesn’t mean that you should forget about safety. The least you can do is read the person profile. Sometimes a guy or a girl can look great but as soon as they start talking, you want to run away. And then there are cases where an average Jane or Joe can hit home from the very first minute. Always keep an eye on their bio, it will save you some time in the future.
- Come up with a profile description
This part is very important for shy people. If you find it hard to write to a person first, state this information in your bio. Then what you want to do is write down what you like and what you dislike. This will give your potential date more conversation options. I mean, who likes to start a conversation with the phrase “how’s it going?”. No one. Secondly, you can always leave a question that will spark a conversation. Something in the lines of “Is love a feeling or a commitment” will do just fine. And if you still have a hard time coming up with something good in your profile description, here’s how to write a dating profile.
- Think Potential Dialogs
A dialog is a two-person thing and you can only get so far being shy. Instead of testing your luck, I suggest that you think about questions to ask on your first online date. After all, he or she might be “the one” and it’s better that you take a moment and learn about the person as much as you can. Whether it’s about his future plans or what they like to read in their free time, knowing more in advance will help you feel more confident.
- Do not be afraid of dates
If you think about using the app and not going on dates, then what’s the point of DoULike dating? Each time we meet someone new, we ask them basic stuff. It’s normal as it allows us to learn about the person. And if things don’t go as smooth as you’d wanted, it’s still an experience. The more you ask, the further you go. It doesn’t mean you should be reckless, it means that you should take risks and learn about people in person.
Bottom Line
Is DoULike good? Of course! Should I get DoULike? It depends on what you want to achieve. If you plan on using it as a hooking app, then you have better options and if you want to use it to find “true love” you might as well give it a try. The app itself is quite good and the install-base is also quite big. You won’t know until you try, so go ahead, give the app a chance.
