A new spin on working at home is doing it standing, rather than just sitting down for hours on end, while your back and neck hurt. Treadmill desks and standing desks have become a trend over the last few years. Here are some surprising benefits of standing while working in your condo unit at Penrith.

Better posture

Integrating a standing desk that has proper ergonomics can help with good posture when facing your laptop or computer. The optimal setup for your computer should be about 20 inches away from your face, at eye level, and have a 20-degree tilt. Standing regularly can correct your posture until you do it naturally.

Burns calories

Standing still can burn more calories compared to sitting, while the difference is not huge at about 100 to 200 calories per hour, sitting just burns 60 to 130. While your mindset is in wellness mode, you will be motivated to walk, stretch, or exercise more throughout the day, allowing you to burn off more calories.

Better circulation

Sitting for extended periods leads to back, neck, and shoulder discomfort because sitting compresses your spine and puts pressure on your discs and back. Moving around or simply standing up can get blood circulating in our bodies and reduce our risk of getting cardiovascular diseases and blood clots. It can also improve our core strength, balance, and the muscles in our legs.
