As children grow, they will be more curious and do all sorts of things that allow them to discover the world, but some might be harmful to them even in your own condo. Not babyproofing your unit could make your child prone to injury. Here’s how you can childproof your home at Springleaf Residence.

Install safety locks

Invest in locks for your drawers and cabinets to keep things that are dangerous out of reach. Lock away bleach, medicine, chemicals, cleaners, supplies, and sharp objects to keep your child safe. Safety locks can be found anywhere that has a baby section or near home or hardware stores.

Lock windows

Lock the windows in your condo to prevent any incidents from happening, and keep your child safe. Buy window wedges to lock your window, window guards to prevent your kid from getting anywhere near the window, and stoppers. They are relatively cheap so investing in these is not a bad idea.

Secure doors

Secure the doors and entrance of your unit to prevent your child from wandering away. Slamming the door over the hand or finger not only hurts, but could turn into a medical emergency.

Anchor furniture

The L shaped brackets that come with the furniture you buy are important to prevent your child from bumping into sharp edges. Anchoring furniture can also help prevent huge items from falling over if a child attempts to climb on it.

No cords, drapes and blinds

It would be best to avoid cords when there are younger children in the family. These can tangle your child and lead to choking or entanglement- a hazard that is silent and can happen anytime if left unsupervised.

Mind where you place things

Keep in mind where you place things such as medicine, sharp objects and other potentially hazardous objects that your child can reach. Lock those things away and don’t forget to store them safely after use.
