Even though many people want to become nurses and are seeking a future in this field, the profession is not an easy one. Not only is the career of a nurse complex to maintain, but there are high expectations of a nursing student as well. Studying nursing requires a deal of hard work, talent, passion, and love for the profession.

However, the rules in nursing schools can be difficult to follow, especially when there are many of them. One of the rules might slip your mind, or you may make an error without even realizing it. This could result in your dismissal and possibly the end of your dreams. If you are facing nursing student dismissal, speak to an attorney today.

Fighting against nursing student dismissals is not easy.

If you are fighting against your school that is trying to dismiss you for breaking a rule, the first thing you should know is that the process of proving yourself right will not be easy. Even though you are a student of the school, do not expect them to understand your side, show empathy or do what is best for you. Sometimes the seemingly good people can do the worst.

Schools are worried about their own reputation and not yours. Therefore, they will do what is best for their public image. When facing dismissal, you must make sure that the investigation process and hearing are conducted in a just manner. An attorney can help you protect your rights.

Your rights as a nursing student facing dismissal

1. The right to be notified of the accusation

As soon as the school office receives a complaint against you, they must notify you through a written letter or email. They must give you enough time to prepare your defense. The school should not keep it hidden from you as it can hinder your chances of collecting evidence and building a strong case for yourself.

2. The right to hire an attorney

As the accused individual, you have the right to hire an attorney and have them prepare a defense for you. Having a legal advisor by your side protects you from saying something wrong before the other party and the school. Moreover, they are equipped with solid legal knowledge and can protect your legal rights better than you can.

3. The right to appeal the school’s decision

Your school cannot blindly trust the complainant and decide to remove you from the institution. They must offer you a chance to prove your innocence. If they are removing you for breaking a rule, such as cheating or plagiarism, you have the right to appeal their decision.
