It was named Tachi. Later, Tachi was again reconstructed to make it more effective and achieved the required results. It becomes the well-known Katana.

Katana is estimated to weigh around 1 – 1.5 kg. The overall length of the katana is about 100 – 110 cm. The katana handle comprises different materials such as copper, wood, metal and ray skin, etc. Any addition in the design and style of the katana is done to maximize the excellent strength and durability to absorb the impact of solid strikes during the fight. Before the birth of the katana, like a traditional sword, Tachi was carried with the edge down.

However, katana was carried with the edge up, making it more efficient for a skilled fighter to strike in one decisive move. Such exceptional qualities make the katana one of the unique weapons in this history.

Katana always has a certain balance to its blade and handle, allowing it to maneuver at ease.

Every samurai fighter dedicated his life to mastering the art of katana. It served as a seal of distinction for the fighter.
