5 Benefits of Outdoor Time for Kids

Many children now have their own gadgets and tend to spend too much time indoors, doomscrolling and using technology all day. Kids need time to unplug, so take them out once in a while and they will surely see it is an enjoyable experience!

Improved mood

Going outside is associated with a better mood, less stress and fatigue. Taking a walk can be therapeutic and can refresh your mind. Connecting with nature in the park, within the lush greenery at Canberra Crescent Residences, or anywhere that is near nature can give you kids a happiness boost. It can help kids who are overwhelmed and need a break from technology to calm down and relax.

Enhanced imagination and creativity

Kids who play and spend time regularly outside can develop their creativity and imagination. Allow them to play and interact with the environment they are in freely. Let them approach problems in their own way, and make their own activities for themselves.

Exercise

Spending time in nature allows your kids to get moving and exercise compared to just sitting on a chair, couch or laying on a bed for hours on end. Simply taking a walk, jogging or any activity they want to do outside can do. This can support their developing bodies and make it stronger. Outdoor play in a natural environment allows them to be more focused, which works for kids that have high energy levels.

Responsibility

Nature is surrounded with living things that can get hurt or even die if they are not cared for or mistreated. This can help teach your child to develop a sense of responsibility, like when watering the plants and caring for them so that it lives and thrives. They will also know the consequences if they don’t care for it.

Stimulation

Nature provides a different form of stimulation by activating different senses you have like hearing, smelling, touching and seeing. These sensory experiences provide learning opportunities that are beneficial for children’s growth and development.
